A motor on the track, a remote in your hand, and a schedule that closes the blackout before the afternoon sun arrives rather than after.

Photographed from the actual catalogues in our warehouse. Colour reads differently backlit against your own glass — which is why we bring the books to you, free.
All 76 shades from all four books, draped on the window and lit the way cloth actually behaves. Tap one to see how motorised curtains would read in your own light.
A motorised track carries the same curtains you would have chosen anyway and moves them on a button, an app, a schedule or a voice command. The convenience is the reason people buy it. The reason they keep talking about it a month later is the timer: on a west-facing window in Dubai, a blackout that closes itself at two in the afternoon stops the room ever getting hot, which is a different result from closing it by hand at six when the heat is already in the floor and the furniture.
We fit motorised curtains across Dubai, Sharjah and the wider UAE, either as a complete new system or as a motor fitted to a track you already have. The survey is free and it starts by establishing which of those two you are actually looking at.

The look of a decorative curtain pole, with a hidden motor and remote control.
If your existing track is a decent aluminium profile, a motor carriage can often be fitted to it and your current curtains rehung — considerably cheaper than starting over. If it is the light plastic rail that comes as standard in a lot of handover apartments, it will not carry a motor, and forcing one onto it fails sooner rather than later. We establish which you have at the survey and tell you before quoting rather than after. Where the track has to be replaced, see curtain tracks and rails for what goes in.
A wired motor needs a fused spur near the track head. In a villa under fit-out that is straightforward. In a finished apartment, where most buildings will not permit chasing walls, a rechargeable lithium motor is the practical answer — several months per charge on normal use, topped up from an ordinary socket with a lead. Solar trickle chargers work well on a window that gets direct sun, which in this region is most of them.
One local caveat worth knowing before you choose: heat shortens battery life. A motor sitting behind glass in full summer sun runs hotter than the same motor in a European bedroom, and a battery that lives hot holds less charge as the years pass. On a window with heavy direct sun we will usually push you towards a wired motor or a solar-assisted one rather than a battery you will be recharging every few weeks by year three.
A handheld radio remote is standard and needs nothing else — no Wi-Fi, no account, no app. Everything beyond that runs through a hub or bridge: a phone app over your home Wi-Fi, sunrise and sunset scheduling that follows the actual daylight rather than a fixed clock time, and voice through Alexa, Google Home or Siri. If your home already runs a controller — Control4, KNX and similar are common in villas here — we integrate into it rather than adding a second system with its own remote.
If you are being sold on smart-home compatibility, the question to ask is what happens when the internet drops. A well-specified system still works from the remote and the wall switch; a badly specified one becomes a curtain you cannot move.
Rarely mentioned, and it is the specification that matters most in a bedroom. Cheap motors are loud enough to wake someone, which defeats the point of a curtain that opens itself at sunrise. The quiet ones run at a level below the AC already running in most UAE bedrooms. This is where the price difference between motors genuinely goes, and it is worth hearing one run before you decide.
Motors are rated for the weight they can pull, and a full-height blackout pair across a villa window is heavier than people assume. An underspecified motor on an overweight curtain is slow, noisy and short-lived. Long runs also need the track jointed and supported properly, because a motor will keep pulling against a binding runner where a person would have felt the resistance and stopped.
Motorisation is quoted as its own line on top of the curtain, never folded into a single headline figure. That is deliberate: you should be able to see what the automation costs and decide window by window. Most of our customers motorise the two or three windows that are genuinely awkward — the double-height glass, the west elevation, the one behind the built-in sofa — and leave the rest manual.

A motor on a curtain track earns its place on windows you cannot reach comfortably, on elevations that need closing before you get home, and in homes with enough windows that doing it by hand is a daily chore.
A battery motor needs no wiring and suits a finished home or a rental; it also needs recharging, which is awkward on the tall window that made you motorise in the first place. A hardwired motor never needs charging but wants a power route decided before the walls are closed.
A long run of heavy blackout asks more of a motor than a short sheer. That is specified against your fabric and your span rather than sold as one product.
A motorised track is heavier than a manual one and the fixing has to reach something solid — see tracks and rails.
Any system we fit can still be moved by hand. Worth confirming with anyone else you ask.
Anyone pricing motorised curtains dubai is really pricing three things: the fabric or material, the making, and the fitting. We quote them as one figure per window rather than as a fabric price with extras arriving later, so the number you approve includes the track or fixings and the installation. Some people search for this as electric curtains dubai; it is the same product. Prices move with the size of the opening and, for curtains, with the fullness the heading needs — which is why two quotations for the same window can differ without either being wrong. The price estimator gives you a figure for your own measurements before anyone visits, and the measuring visit itself is free across Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates.
Worth knowing if you are comparing suppliers: the same thing is searched for as smart curtain motor uae, so a quote under a different name is often for exactly this product.

Very good work and a fair price. The only reason for four stars is that the first fitting slot was moved by a day. Once they arrived it took under three hours for four windows and they cleaned up after themselves.
Pinch pleat in the formal sitting room. The folds are even across the whole width, which is the part cheap curtains always get wrong. They hung and dressed them properly before leaving.
Good blinds at a good price. I would have liked a wider colour choice in the roller range, but for the blackout function they do exactly what was promised.
They came all the way to RAK for two bedrooms and still gave me the same fixed price. Fitted in one visit.
Sheers for a small apartment on a budget. They were honest that I did not need a heavier fabric for a north-facing room instead of selling me the expensive book.
Fair work for a fair price. Delivery was a day later than first indicated but they called ahead rather than leaving me waiting.
Book 303 jacquard in the majlis. Guests keep asking where they came from. The pattern lines up across the two panels, which I did not think to ask about and they did anyway.
Simple eyelet curtains for a rented flat, and they were happy to do a small job without making me feel like a small customer.
Rollers for the kitchen and the study. Wipeable, compact, and the chain is on the side I asked for. Small thing, but they asked first instead of guessing.
I wanted something light for the majlis that still gave privacy from the street. The chiffon does both, and it does not look cheap up close.
Motorised blinds on the high windows in the stairwell — the ones I could never reach. Set to open at seven and close at sunset. Installed cleanly with no visible wiring.
Third quote I took and the only one that included the track, the fittings and the installation in one number. Nothing was added afterwards.
