Photographed from the actual catalogues in our warehouse. Colour reads differently backlit against your own glass — which is why we bring the books to you, free.
Blackout roller blinds use a fabric with an opaque backing that stops light passing through the material entirely. Fitted correctly — face-fixed, oversized, with side channels where the room demands it — they take a bedroom to properly dark for less than any curtain option.

Blackout roller fabric blocks 100% of the light that hits it. The light you still see comes around the sides, and that gap is a fitting decision, not a fabric one. Reveal-fitted, expect a visible line down each edge. Face-fixed with 10 cm of overlap on every side, that mostly disappears. For a nursery or a shift worker who sleeps in daylight, we add aluminium side channels and the room goes genuinely black.
Cost, depth and cleaning. A roller costs less than a made curtain, projects about 8 cm instead of 15, and wipes clean rather than needing dry cleaning. In a small bedroom where a curtain would dominate the wall, a blackout roller does the job and disappears.
Warmth and sound. A roller is a single thin layer; a lined curtain is a heavy soft one. Rooms with a lot of hard surfaces echo, and fabric fixes that where a roller will not. If the room is for sleeping and also for living, a curtain usually wins.
A blackout roller behind a decorative curtain is a common and sensible fit — the roller does the darkening, the curtain does the softening, and neither has to compromise. It is often cheaper than a layered blackout-and-sheer curtain pair.
An aluminium channel fixed down each side of the window captures the edge of the fabric so there is no gap at all for light to come through. It is the difference between a very dark room and a genuinely black one, and it is the only way a roller matches a properly fitted blackout curtain for darkness. We recommend channels for nurseries, for anyone sleeping through daylight hours, and for home cinema rooms. On an ordinary bedroom where the curtain is closed at night anyway, face-fixing with a generous overlap is usually enough and the channels are money you do not need to spend.
Two things make blackout matter more here than in a cooler country. Sunrise is early and the light is hard, so a bedroom with an untreated window is bright well before six in summer. And the same fabric that stops the light stops the direct solar gain, which measurably slows how fast a west-facing bedroom heats up through the afternoon. If you work shifts in Dubai or Sharjah, or you are trying to get a small child to nap after lunch, this is the product that solves it for the least money. There is more on the sleep side in our guide to whether blackout curtains help sleep.

Three words get used as if they were interchangeable, and they are not. One is a construction, one is a performance…

Blackout curtains are sold as a sleep product. The fabric is rarely the thing standing between you and a dark room —…

They do different jobs and most homes need both. Here is what each one actually does, where each fails, and how to…
A blackout roller stops light through the fabric completely. What it cannot do on its own is stop light around the edges — and in a bedroom that is the part people notice.
Face-fixed, with a generous overlap on both sides and above, is what darkens a room. A reveal-fitted blackout roller will still leave a bright outline at sunrise however good the fabric.
A cassette hides the roll and closes the gap at the top; side channels close the sides. If the room is for sleeping in daylight, ask about both — they matter more than upgrading the fabric.
A roller sits at the glass and takes no wall, which suits a small bedroom. A blackout curtain covers a wider opening more gracefully and softens the room. Plenty of bedrooms use the roller for daytime naps and curtains for the look.
Anyone pricing blackout roller blinds dubai is really pricing three things: the fabric or material, the making, and the fitting. We quote them as one figure per window rather than as a fabric price with extras arriving later, so the number you approve includes the track or fixings and the installation. Some people search for this as room darkening roller blinds uae; it is the same product. Prices move with the size of the opening and, for curtains, with the fullness the heading needs — which is why two quotations for the same window can differ without either being wrong. The price estimator gives you a figure for your own measurements before anyone visits, and the measuring visit itself is free across Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates.

My daughter used to wake at 5:30 with the sun. First morning after the fitting she slept until 7. That alone was worth it. Fabric is from book 303 and it feels much heavier than what I was shown elsewhere.
Good price, good fabric and a team that turned up when they said. There is not much more to ask for.
Two bedrooms and the majlis, all catalogue 302. The team measured on the Saturday and fitted the following Thursday. What I did not expect was how much cooler the west bedroom is now in the afternoon — the AC stopped running constantly.
Wave track along a six-metre window. The folds stay perfectly uniform whether open or closed. It is the detail that makes the whole room look finished.
Quoted, fitted and invoiced with no surprises. The fitters removed all the packaging and took the old rail away with them.
Rollers for a home office. The screen glare is gone and the blind sits flush inside the recess.
The fitters noticed my ceiling was not level and adjusted the track so the curtains hang straight anyway. That is the kind of thing you only find out later if it is done badly.
They cover Ajman properly, which many Dubai companies do not. No extra travel charge and they arrived on time.
Went for the double layer after seeing the books at home. Sheer during the day, blackout at night, and the two tracks were installed level to the millimetre. Price on the quote was the price I paid.
The consultant brought all four catalogue books to the flat. Seeing the fabric against my own window in daylight completely changed which colour I picked — the one I chose online looked grey in my living room.
I only wanted sheers for the living room. They did not try to upsell me into blackout, which I appreciated. The chiffon softens the light beautifully and the room still feels bright.
Floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides. The sheers cut the glare without making the apartment dark, and the fitters got the drop right to the centimetre above the floor.
