Wave — also called ripple fold — replaces the gathered top of a traditional curtain with a continuous, uniform S-curve. The fabric is carried on a corded tape and a special track that holds every fold at exactly the same spacing, so the curtain looks deliberate whether it is fully drawn or stacked at the side.
On the tall, uninterrupted glazing common in Dubai towers it is the heading that looks right; a pencil pleat on a four-metre drop can look fussy where a wave looks architectural.

Can I fit wave curtains to my existing track?
Only if that track is already a corded wave system. The even ripple comes from a cord running inside the track at fixed spacing — on an ordinary track the folds have nothing holding them and the curtain hangs unevenly. If the existing profile is sound aluminium we can often replace only the track and rehang.
Do wave curtains use more fabric?
Yes. We cut blackout wave at 2.5 times the track width against 2.0 for a classic pleat, so there is a quarter more fabric in the curtain. That fullness is exactly what produces the even, unbroken ripple; cutting it leaner to reach a lower price gives you a flat curtain that looks it.
Are wave curtains good for small windows?
Less so. Wave reads best when there is enough width for the rhythm of the folds to establish itself, which is why it suits long windows and full-height glazing. On a narrow bedroom window you get two or three waves and the effect is lost — a pencil or pinch pleat looks better there.
How tightly does a wave curtain stack?
Very tightly, because every fold is the same depth and nothing bunches — noticeably tighter than a pleated curtain of the same width. Give the track 15 to 20 cm of wall each side of the glass and the curtain will stack completely clear of the window when open.
Can wave blackout curtains be motorised?
Yes, and they are the heading most often motorised. The wave track and the motor carriage are designed around each other, so a motorised wave system runs smoothly and keeps the fold spacing exactly as it should be. It is a common specification on tall villa glazing.

What makes a wave curtain different
In a conventional heading the fabric is gathered and pinched at the top, and the folds below find their own way down — which is why they wander, and why you end up dressing them by hand after every wash. Wave holds the fold at the track itself. Each runner is spaced at a fixed distance by the cording, so the S repeats identically all the way across and all the way down. It is the only heading that genuinely stays neat without being fussed over.
It needs the right track
This is not a heading you can retrofit to an existing rail. Wave requires a track with correctly spaced, corded runners; on an ordinary track the folds collapse and you have paid for a look you will not get. The track is included in our price, and if you already have one fitted we will tell you plainly whether it can carry a wave or not.
Fabric use is higher — and that is the point
Wave runs at around 2.5 times the track width against 2.0 for a pencil pleat. That extra fabric is what creates the depth of the curve; cut it leaner to save money and the wave flattens into something that just looks like a badly hung curtain. We do not quote wave below its proper fullness, because the result is not worth selling.
Where it works, and where it does not
Wave belongs on long horizontal runs — sliding doors, full walls of glass, wide majlis openings. It needs room to develop the repeat, so on a narrow window barely a metre across you will get three folds and none of the effect. For small windows a pinch pleat or an eyelet gives a better result for less money, and we will say so.
Stack-back
Because there is more fabric, a wave curtain stacks deeper when open. On a wide opening plan for roughly a fifth of the track width in bundled fabric at each end, and extend the track past the glass accordingly. Ignore this and a beautifully made wave curtain will spend its life covering the edges of the view it was bought to frame.

Wave blackout: the modern heading on long runs
A wave heading runs on a corded track that holds the fabric in a continuous S-curve. There are no pleat groups, so the fold repeats evenly from one end of the run to the other.
Why it suits full-height glazing
On a long uninterrupted span — the common apartment situation here — a pinch pleat divides the window into sections and a wave does not. The line stays quiet, which is usually what that architecture wants.
It is the hungriest heading
Wave is cut at 2.5x: a three-metre track takes seven and a half metres of cloth. That is the main reason a wave quote sits above a pinch pleat quote for the same window, and it is not a place to economise — the curve depends on the surplus.
It needs a track, not a pole
The wave is created by the carriers, so the system is part of the heading rather than an accessory. It also means the stack is deeper than a pinch pleat, so the track wants more wall beside the glass.
Blackout on a wave
The same edge rules apply as any blackout: past the glass, overlapped in the middle, floor length. If the room also wants daylight privacy, the double-layer wave puts a sheer on a second channel.
