A track hides. A pole is meant to be seen. It is the visible alternative, it is what eyelet and tab top curtains are designed to hang on, and it is a piece of hardware you are choosing partly for how it looks against the wall.

We supply curtain rods and poles across Dubai and the UAE complete with brackets, finials and rings, sized to the weight of the curtain and the span of the window rather than to a standard length. Poles suit rooms with wall space above the window — villas and townhouses more often than apartments, where a ceiling pocket usually points you towards a track instead.

Curtain pole or curtain track — which is better?
Neither is better; they solve different problems. A pole is visible hardware and suits eyelet and tab top curtains in a room with wall space above the window. A track disappears, gives you the full ceiling-to-floor drop, handles very wide windows, and is the only option if you want a wave heading or motorisation. In UAE apartments with a ceiling curtain pocket, the track is usually the natural fit.
What diameter pole do I need?
It depends on the span and the weight of the finished curtain, not on taste. A narrow pole over a wide window with a heavy blackout on it will bow in the middle, and adding a centre support to fix that stops the curtain drawing past the support. We size it from your measured window at the visit and tell you if a pole is the wrong choice for that span.
Can I hang eyelet curtains on a track?
No. Eyelet curtains are made with metal rings punched through the heading and the pole passes through them — there is nothing to hook onto a track. If you have your heart set on eyelet, you are choosing a pole. If the window really needs a track, pencil pleat, pinch pleat or wave will give you a similar look with different detailing.
Do the brackets and finials come with the pole?
Yes. A pole is quoted complete — the rod itself, wall or ceiling brackets, centre supports where the span needs them, finials at both ends and the rings, all in a matched finish. There is no separate accessories line arriving after you have approved the price.
Which finish lasts best in a coastal apartment?
Solid finishes and properly coated ones. Humid salt air in the coastal parts of Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman pits thin electroplating over base metal, so a cheap chrome-look pole can dull within a couple of years. We will tell you which of the finishes in the catalogue we would put in a seafront apartment and which we would keep inland.

Diameter is a load question, not a style one

The pole has to carry the finished weight of the curtain across the whole span without visibly bowing, and a full-drop blackout in a villa is heavier than people expect. A slim decorative pole over a wide window will dip in the centre — and the usual fix, a centre support bracket, stops the curtain drawing past that point. We size the diameter to the span and the fabric weight, and we will say plainly when a window is too wide for a pole to be the right answer at all.

As a rough guide: the narrow diameters suit sheer panels and modest bedroom windows, the mid sizes cover most living-room windows, and the heaviest sections are for long villa spans and full-height glazing. The exact figure we quote depends on your measured width and the catalogue you choose.

Finials, brackets and rings

Finials cap each end. They stop the rings sliding off and they are the decorative moment of the whole assembly — the one part of a curtain system anybody comments on. Brackets come in wall and ceiling versions, plus centre supports for long runs, and all arrive matched to the pole finish. Rings carry the curtain, and for eyelet headings there are no rings at all: the pole passes straight through the metal eyelets punched into the curtain, which is what gives that heading its even, deep fold.

Choosing a finish

Brushed nickel, matt black, antique brass, chrome and wood. The useful rule is that the pole should relate to the metalwork already in the room — door handles, light fittings, the kitchen tap line of sight — rather than to the curtain fabric. Matching hardware to fabric is what makes a window look like it was bought as a set; matching it to the room is what makes the room look coordinated.

One regional note: in coastal homes in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman, humid salt air is hard on cheap plated finishes, which pit and dull. Solid finishes and proper coatings hold up; a thin electroplate over base metal does not.

Double poles for a layered window

A double pole carries a sheer in front of a blackout, both on their own set of rings, on a bracket that holds the two rods at different projections. It is the pole equivalent of a double track. It stands further off the wall than a track does, so it needs the wall space above and beside the window to look right — worth checking before you commit to it in a compact apartment reception.

Where a pole beats a track, and where it does not

A pole wins when the window has wall space above it, when the heading is eyelet or tab top, and when you want the hardware to be part of the look. A track wins when you want the curtain to appear to fall from the ceiling, when the drop needs every last centimetre, when the window is very wide, and when you want wave or motorisation — neither of which a pole can do.

Fitting

Brackets go into the wall above the frame, far enough above it that the curtain covers the frame when closed, and wide enough past it that the curtain can stack clear of the glass when open. In villas that usually means fixing into block or concrete; in apartments it can mean an anchor rated for the wall type. We mark the bracket positions and let you look at the height before anything is drilled.

Before you decide

Worth reading first

Curtain rods: when a pole is the better choice

A pole is visible hardware. Where a track is meant to disappear, a pole is a deliberate line across the wall — and it needs wall above the window to exist at all.

Diameter follows weight

A heavy blackout on a long span needs a thicker pole and often a centre bracket; a light sheer does not. A pole that bows in the middle was specified for the wrong fabric.

Rings, eyelets and hooks

Eyelet curtains thread directly onto the pole. Pinch pleat hangs from rings with hooks. That choice is made with the heading, not after it.

Brackets and projection

How far the pole stands off the wall decides whether a curtain clears a sill, a handle or a radiator recess. It is measured on the visit.

Where a pole cannot go

Floor-to-ceiling glazing, curved runs and anything layered. Those want a track.

What curtain rods cost in Dubai, and what the quote covers

Anyone pricing curtain rods dubai is really pricing three things: the fabric or material, the making, and the fitting. We quote them as one figure per window rather than as a fabric price with extras arriving later, so the number you approve includes the track or fixings and the installation. Some people search for this as curtain poles dubai; it is the same product. Prices move with the size of the opening and, for curtains, with the fullness the heading needs — which is why two quotations for the same window can differ without either being wrong. The price estimator gives you a figure for your own measurements before anyone visits, and the measuring visit itself is free across Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates.

A pole is sometimes called a curtain rail in the UAE, though strictly a rail is the channel version — see tracks if that is what you meant.

Floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides. The sheers cut the glare without making the apartment dark, and the fitters got the drop right to the centimetre above the floor.

Very good work and a fair price. The only reason for four stars is that the first fitting slot was moved by a day. Once they arrived it took under three hours for four windows and they cleaned up after themselves.

Pinch pleat in the formal sitting room. The folds are even across the whole width, which is the part cheap curtains always get wrong. They hung and dressed them properly before leaving.

Good blinds at a good price. I would have liked a wider colour choice in the roller range, but for the blackout function they do exactly what was promised.

Sheers for a small apartment on a budget. They were honest that I did not need a heavier fabric for a north-facing room instead of selling me the expensive book.

Fair work for a fair price. Delivery was a day later than first indicated but they called ahead rather than leaving me waiting.

Book 303 jacquard in the majlis. Guests keep asking where they came from. The pattern lines up across the two panels, which I did not think to ask about and they did anyway.

Rollers for the kitchen and the study. Wipeable, compact, and the chain is on the side I asked for. Small thing, but they asked first instead of guessing.

I wanted something light for the majlis that still gave privacy from the street. The chiffon does both, and it does not look cheap up close.

Motorised blinds on the high windows in the stairwell — the ones I could never reach. Set to open at seven and close at sunset. Installed cleanly with no visible wiring.
