You can, and there is a guide here if you want a rough figure before booking. But a made-to-measure curtain is cut to a number, and if that number is wrong the panel is scrap. Taking the measurement ourselves makes it our responsibility rather than yours — which is the point of the free visit.
A written quotation with the measurements on it, the fabric you chose with its catalogue and shade number, the heading style, the track type, and one total. Nothing verbal, nothing to be confirmed later.

Track width rather than window width, finished drop to the floor, what the ceiling is made of, and anything that changes the fixing — a bulkhead, an AC vent above the window, a wall that is not square.
Because the mistakes are ours to carry. A drop measured to the sill instead of the floor, or a track measured across the glass instead of past it, produces a curtain that cannot be fixed afterwards. Measuring on site removes that risk from you entirely.
