Tilting timber slats. Throw the light at the ceiling and keep it off the screen, or close them flat for privacy without losing the window.

Photographed from the actual catalogues in our warehouse. Colour reads differently backlit against your own glass — which is why we bring the books to you, free.
A wooden venetian gives you something no fabric product can: directional light control. Tilt the slats up and daylight bounces off your ceiling and fills the room indirectly, with no glare and no hard shadows. Tilt them down and you get privacy while still seeing your feet on the pavement below.

Basswood is light, warm and genuinely timber — it is the premium option and it looks it. Faux wood is a PVC composite that mimics the profile. In the UAE the choice is mostly about where the blind is going: real wood in a dry, air-conditioned living room, faux wood in a kitchen or bathroom where humidity would warp timber over time. Anyone who tells you real wood is fine in a UAE bathroom has not fitted many.
25 mm slats look fine and precise on a small window. 50 mm slats give a bolder, more architectural line and let more view through when open, which suits large windows. On a big villa window 25 mm slats look busy.
This is the honest downside. Venetian slats collect dust in a way that a flat fabric surface does not, and in this region that means a proper dusting every couple of weeks. A slat duster takes five minutes; ignoring it for six months means taking the blind down.
Venetians have both a lift cord and a tilt wand. Both are fitted with child-safe cleats as standard, and we will not leave a job without them.
The reason to put a venetian on hard afternoon glass rather than a roller is that you can keep the daylight and lose the beam. Tilted upwards, the slats throw the low western sun at your ceiling, and the room lights indirectly with no glare and no hard shadow across a screen or a dining table. A roller in the same window is a straight trade: pull it down and the room goes dim. On a west-facing living room or a home office this directional control is the whole argument, and it is why venetians are still specified in rooms full of glass.
If the room in question is a kitchen, a bathroom or an office rather than a living room, read the aluminium venetian page instead — same mechanism, but metal does not care about humidity.
Two details specific to UAE construction. Many apartment windows have a deep reveal finished in marble or stone, and we fix the headrail into the ceiling of the reveal or into the wall beside it rather than drilling the stone face. And a lot of villa windows have an aluminium frame with very little flat surface to fix to, which decides face fix over reveal fit before anything else is discussed. Both are things we check at the visit, because they change the look of the finished blind rather than just the fixing method.

Three words get used as if they were interchangeable, and they are not. One is a construction, one is a performance…

Timber slats that tilt. Unlike a roller, you control the direction of light as well as how much of it enters — you can look out while stopping someone looking in.
Wider slats give a cleaner look and a clearer view when open; narrower slats stack smaller and suit small windows. Both tilt the same way.
Living rooms, studies and bedrooms. Real timber is less suited to a steamy bathroom or directly over a sink — aluminium handles that better.
Slats collect dust on the upper face. Tilt them closed and wipe along the run rather than slat by slat.
Anyone pricing wooden venetian blinds dubai is really pricing three things: the fabric or material, the making, and the fitting. We quote them as one figure per window rather than as a fabric price with extras arriving later, so the number you approve includes the track or fixings and the installation. Some people search for this as wood blinds dubai; it is the same product. Prices move with the size of the opening and, for curtains, with the fullness the heading needs — which is why two quotations for the same window can differ without either being wrong. The price estimator gives you a figure for your own measurements before anyone visits, and the measuring visit itself is free across Dubai, Sharjah and the northern emirates.
Worth knowing if you are comparing suppliers: the same thing is searched for as timber venetian blinds uae, so a quote under a different name is often for exactly this product.

Rollers for a home office. The screen glare is gone and the blind sits flush inside the recess.
The fitters noticed my ceiling was not level and adjusted the track so the curtains hang straight anyway. That is the kind of thing you only find out later if it is done badly.
They cover Ajman properly, which many Dubai companies do not. No extra travel charge and they arrived on time.
Went for the double layer after seeing the books at home. Sheer during the day, blackout at night, and the two tracks were installed level to the millimetre. Price on the quote was the price I paid.
The consultant brought all four catalogue books to the flat. Seeing the fabric against my own window in daylight completely changed which colour I picked — the one I chose online looked grey in my living room.
I only wanted sheers for the living room. They did not try to upsell me into blackout, which I appreciated. The chiffon softens the light beautifully and the room still feels bright.
Floor-to-ceiling glass on two sides. The sheers cut the glare without making the apartment dark, and the fitters got the drop right to the centimetre above the floor.
Very good work and a fair price. The only reason for four stars is that the first fitting slot was moved by a day. Once they arrived it took under three hours for four windows and they cleaned up after themselves.
Pinch pleat in the formal sitting room. The folds are even across the whole width, which is the part cheap curtains always get wrong. They hung and dressed them properly before leaving.
Good blinds at a good price. I would have liked a wider colour choice in the roller range, but for the blackout function they do exactly what was promised.
They came all the way to RAK for two bedrooms and still gave me the same fixed price. Fitted in one visit.
Sheers for a small apartment on a budget. They were honest that I did not need a heavier fabric for a north-facing room instead of selling me the expensive book.
